Pellet plant proposed in Penobscot County
A small-scale wood pellet manufacturing plant has been proposed in the northern town of Mattawamkeag, where it will have to pass voter approval.
The Bangor Daily News reported that residents of the northern Penobscot County town are expected to vote this month on a proposal by Inve Properties LLC to transform a former school into a plant that could at some point employ as many as 12 people.
The town’s Board of Selectmen has already approved the developer’s proposal to buy the building for $50,000. The property’s athletic fields would be retained by the town.
