Redzone Wireless LLC, a Camden-based wireless Internet service provider, has expanded its 4G LTE wireless network to more than 14,000 new households in the greater Auburn area, the company said Wednesday.
The expansion of the high-speed Internet service in Auburn was privately funded by the company and follows an announcement in September that the company’s network coverage had exceeded 100,000 Maine households.
“We are very proud to bring the world’s most advanced wireless broadband technology to the Auburn community,” Jim McKenna, president of Redzone Wireless, said in a statement. “With its capable and motivated municipal leadership, Auburn is now better positioned from a technology perspective to drive economic growth and development.”
Michael Forcillo, Redzone Wireless’ vice president, the approximately 115,000 households the network serves represent more than 20% of all Maine households. He said the company expects to exceed its goal of expanding its network to 25% of Maine’s population by the end of the year.
