Our three winners, Cheating Gourmet in the small category, Maine Coast in the medium category and Apothecary By Design, a winner in the large category for the second year in a row, are rapidly changing Maine's economy for the better. Will the tariffs, as laid out, affect your business?

In November, Mainebiz asked, "Are you worried about how President-elect Trump's higher U.S. tariffs could affect your business?" Around 53% of respondents said they were. 

As of Feb. 1, President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada and an additional 10% levy on goods from China. Energy imports from Canada, including oil, gas and electricity, are to be taxed at a lower, 10% rate. 

Even with a 30-day pause on tariffs on Canada and Mexico, the plans are still looming. This week plans to enact tariffs on aluminum and steel are expected to go into effect.
