After a three-year hiatus, the Ad Club of Maine is putting on the Broderson Awards, an event that for more than 35 years recognized exceptional work of Maine’s advertising agencies, brands and freelancers.
The Ad Club of Maine stated in a release that this year’s event will take place on Thompson’s Point in Portland on April 20 and is expected to draw hundreds to the award show.
The awards will feature nearly 30 different categories, spanning the entire spectrum of the modern advertising world. Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, Feb. 28.
“From visual assets and print advertising to broadcast, digital, and other more niche sub categories, the Broderson will give Maine’s best and the brightest minds in advertising a chance to showcase what they have been up to for the past three years,” the Ad Club of Maine stated in its release.
“We’re thinking of it as an entirely new experience, not just a new iteration of previous programs,” said Michelle LeBlanc, president of the Ad Club of Maine. “Maine has such a vibrant creative community, and it has been maturing even as the industry as a whole has been changing. This year’s event will bring together a new generation of freelancers, world-class agencies, brand marketers and creative people from all walks of life.”
In order to support the future of advertising in Maine, a portion of proceeds from the event will fund scholarship awards given to the top five ‘student category’ entrants. The student category is free to enter for any individual currently enrolled in a Maine educational program and each winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
The Broderson Awards are made possible through the support of Circus Maine, Portland Magazine and Headlight Audio Visual.
Tickets are available for $45 per person at http://adclubofmaine.com.
