Deckelmann was named a partner at Dentons and a member of its corporate practice. She brings 20 years of experience helping businesses, from startups to large established companies, as they seek to grow and protect their organizations.

“Kevan brings a tremendous amount of experience that our clients are looking for right now,” said Andrew Helman, managing partner of the Portland office of Dentons. “She’s a problem solver who assists her clients in setting them up for success.”

A former partner at Portland law firm Bernstein Shur, Deckelmann advises businesses on mergers and acquisitions across various industries, including mobile telecommunications, cloud computing, and food and beverage. Her practice also focuses on media, advertising, and the issues businesses face when engaged in online marketing, including endorsers, promotions and sweepstakes.

“I have several multijurisdictional clients who benefit from the national and global Dentons platform, which allows me to provide them with expertise where and when they need it, as well as a deep bench when matters and deals demand it,” Deckelmann told Mainebiz.

“Dentons provides the best of both worlds — local connections and relationships combined with national and global resources,” she continued. “My Dentons colleagues have welcomed me and my clients with a great deal of energy and interest, and I look forward to continued collaboration to solve client problems creatively and efficiently.”

Deckelmann was a member of the Maine Bar Association’s Business Law Section LLC Act Drafting Committee, which drafted the Maine Limited Liability Company Act.

She received her bachelor’s degree in English and psychology from Bowdoin College and her juris doctorate from the University of Maine School of Law.

"Bernstein Shur has long been a leader in recruiting and developing the most talented attorneys in their respective practices," said Joan Fortin, CEO of Bernstein Shur. "We take great pride in our Bernstein Shur alumni and our role in launching and supporting the careers of many strong, talented and widely respected attorneys, including Kevan, who I've been fortunate to know personally and professionally for many years. We wish her the best in this next chapter of her career."
