18 health centers across Maine share $4M in fed funds for COVID-19 response

Community health centers throughout Maine will receive a total of $3,997,779 from the federal government to address screening and testing needs, acquire medical supplies and boost telehealth capacity in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 18 health care sites have been awarded funds through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration, according to a news release Tuesday.

“Community health centers are the backbone of Maine’s rural health care system. During the COVID-19 pandemic, these medical providers are needed now more than ever,” said U.S. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Angus King, I-Maine, in a joint statement.

“This important funding will assist health centers throughout Maine as they continue to care for COVID-19 patients in their communities.”

The funding has been allocated as follows:

  • Bucksport Regional Health Center, $286,233;
  • DFD Russell Medical Center, $326,553;
  • Eastport Health Care received $244,283;
  • Fish River Rural Health, $329,780;
  • Harrington Family Health Center, $240,653;
  • Health Access Network, $237,903;
  • HealthReach Community Health Center, $252,750;
  • Islands Community Medical Services, $15,424;
  • Katahdin Valley Health Center, $320,521;
  • Maine Mobile Health Program, $188,431;
  • Pines Health Services, $230,250;
  • Penobscot Community Health Center; $250,250;
  • Portland Community Health Center, $263,597;
  • Regional Medical Center, $212,876;
  • Sacopee Valley Health Center, $205,250;
  • St. Croix Regional Family Health Center, $125,236;
  • Sebasticook Family Doctors, $221,666; and
  • York County Community Action Corp., $46,123.
