200 jobs coming to Orono call center

Atlanta-based NexxLinx yesterday announced it will hire another 200 people at its Orono call center by the end of the year.

The hiring is to meet increasing demand from the cable and media, electronic gaming and hospitality markets, according to a company press release. NexxLinx provides outsourced customer support and marketing for those industries as well as financial services, e-commerce and retail. The company acquired Microdyne Outsourcing in February, which at the time had 275 employees at the Orono center, and already has hired 100 people since then. The jobs will pay between $9 and $15 an hour, Chief Financial Officer Neil Quarterman told the Bangor Daily News.

The company's clients include video game company EA, Time Warner Cable, Reader's Digest and The Golf Channel, according to the paper.
