From a field of almost 2,000 national entrants, Rising Tide Brewing Co., Black Dinah Chocolatiers, Bixby & Co., Turtle Rock Farm, Gold Star Honeybees and Posto Bello Apiaries were voted on by a 215-person judging panel consisting of several top chefs, culinary experts and journalists covering the national food scene. The awards were presented Jan. 15.

In addition to coming out on top in regional tastings, all finalists passed a rigorous vetting to confirm they met specific Good Food Awards standards around environmentally sound agriculture practices, good animal husbandry, transparency and responsible relationships throughout the supply chain.

“We are so proud of our entrepreneurs and successful small businesses,” said George Gervais, commissioner of the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, in a prepared statement. “These Good Food Award finalists represent our unique food industry which continues to attract worldwide attention.”
