After eight months of site work, building demolition and construction, the Casco-based Hancock Lumber has officially opened the doors on a new 30,000-square-foot facility in Kennebunk.
“We are very excited about our new Kennebunk store. The project was three years in planning, and we feel the facility represents a fresh, modern approach to retailing and distributing building materials,” Hancock President Kevin Hancock said in a statement. “The store is designed around people. We wanted the facility to be a great place to work, a great place to plan projects and select building materials, and a fast and easy facility for picking up products."
The new Kennebunk location at 95 York St. features a built-to-deliver, drive-thru lumberyard and warehouse where all building materials are stored under cover, protected from the elements. The store also has an interactive hardware store and a modern Home Again design showroom for kitchen and bath projects that is staffed by professional kitchen designers.
"Maine has so many great contractors who base their reputations on quality and efficiency,” Mark Hopkins, Hancock Lumber’s retail division COO, said in a release about the opening. “Our store is designed to support their activity and become a place that can link the material supplier, the builder and the homeowner. Hancock Lumber is proud to partner with York County’s finest builders and provide this new facility as an extension of their business.”
