Two Portland law firms have teamed up to combine litigation, mediation and arbitration services.
Drummond Woodsum said Monday it has merged with another Portland firm, Germani Hill & Hayes, "a major expansion" to its litigation practice. It now has 27 lawyers who specialize in litigation, arbitration and mediation, making it one of the largest litigation practices in Maine and New Hampshire.
The combined firms will operate under the Drummond Woodsum name.
Germani Hill & Hayes attorneys Elizabeth Germani, Tracy Hill, Robert Hayes, Amanda Lynch, and James Spizuoco have all joined Drummond Woodsum.
“We are thrilled to have the lawyers from Germani Hill & Hayes join our firm,” said David Sherman, head of Drummond Woodsum’s trial services group. “They are excellent attorneys who will add even more depth to our team of trial attorneys.”
Benjamin Marcus, Drummond Woodsum's managing partner, said: “This merger will maintain Drummond Woodsum’s trial practice as among the most capable and experienced in northern New England.”
Areas of practice will include professional liability, product liability, medical negligence, personal injury, civil rights, insurance coverage, criminal defense and general commercial litigation. The two firms will also combine their mediation and arbitration practices.
“Our attorneys and practices were so complementary, uniting our firms made sense, and our clients will benefit from the depth and experience of our combined practices,” said Elizabeth Germani.
Founded in 1965, Drummond Woodsum is a full-service law firm with over 95 professionals and more than 24 practice areas with offices in Portland, as well as Manchester and Lebanon, N.H.
