Access Healthcare, one of the largest providers of health care revenue cycle management and IT services, has hired David Tassoni as president of its operations in the United States.
Tassoni had worked for 10 years as senior vice president of operations for Athenahealth, establishing and leading its flagship operations center in Belfast. During his tenure at Athenahealth, Tassoni successfully scaled the company’s core revenue cycle management and document management services, as well as customer support and patient communications.
He also was actively involved in deploying key automation technology and leveraging offshore partnerships that helped drive Athenahealth’s tenfold expansion.
Access Healthcare said in a news release that Tassoni will lead its U.S. health care operations working directly with Anurag Jain, the company’s chairman, and members of the company’s health care executive team. His responsibilities include establishing both short-term and long-term strategic business goals and expansion of the Access Healthcare brand and market share.
"David brings significant expertise in scaling healthcare revenue cycle business and technology operations," Jain said in the news release. "I'm excited that David is joining at this time as we embark into a new era of process automation solutions and prepare to launch new service offerings."
Based in Dallas, Access Healthcare provides business process outsourcing, applications services and robotic process automation tools to health care providers, payers and related service providers. The company operates from 19 delivery centers in the U.S., India and the Philippines and has 11,000-plus employees.
Access Healthcare supports over 300,000 physicians, serves 80-plus specialties, processes over $70 billion of accounts and receivables annually and ascribes medical codes to over 30 million charts annually. To learn more, please visit.

Prior to Athenahealth, Tassoni worked at MBNA America, where he led several key operations in lending, customer satisfaction, fraud management and loan acquisition. He played an important role in the development of MBNA’s Northern Region headquarters in Maine, employing over 3,500 people in Belfast at its peak.
He lives in Camden with his wife, Andrea, and their three children and serves on the board of LifeFlight of Maine.
In November, Athenahealth Inc. (NASDAQ: ATHN), one of Waldo County's largest employers with 950 workers at its Belfast offices, announced it had entered an agreement to be acquired by private-equity firm Veritas Capital and Elliott Management Corp. for $5.7 billion in an all-cash transaction.
The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2019, subject to the approval of the holders of a majority of athenahealth's outstanding shares and the satisfaction of customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, athenahealth reported in a November news release.
