Air Force vet to lead County development group
Aroostook Partners for Progress, a public-private group that promotes economic development in The County, has hired Fort Fairfield native Bob Dorsey as its new president and CEO.
Dorsey spent 26 years in the Air Force, including three where he worked at the Pentagon, and returned to Fort Fairfield in 2001, according to a press release. Following his military service, he worked for defense firm BAE Systems in New Hampshire, most recently holding the title of director of business development. Currently, Dorsey is president of the Fort Fairfield Lions Club and a member of the Aroostook Valley Country Club board of directors. Kris Doody, chair of the APP board, said in the release the group chose Dorsey because of his experience in "very dynamic positions of leadership." Dorsey takes over for Walt Elish, who in October took a job as president and CEO of Northern Colorado Economic Development Corp.
Established in 2004, APP focuses on driving economic development efforts in the region and promoting The County to the rest of the country and overseas. Last year it began implementing the Mobilize Northern Maine initiative, an asset-based economic development strategy.
