Allen Insurance and Financial, Maine’s largest employee-owned independent insurance and financial services agency, has made changes in the company’s leadership team.
Effective Jan. 1, Michael Pierce, Dan Bookham, Peter Williams and Susan Howland comprise the leadership group.
“Thanks to our team of now more than 90 employee-owners, Allen continues to grow and thrive,” said Michael Pierce, company president. “This leadership team is well poised to embrace our goals for continued growth and exemplary client service in 2023 and beyond.”
Bookham has been promoted to senior vice president for business development. He joined the company in 2012 as a commercial lines producer and was appointed vice president for business development in 2016. He is an accredited adviser in insurance designation and is a member of the International Association of Maritime Port Executives.
Bookham moved from Britain to Maine in 1995 and has lived or worked in Bar Harbor, Camden, Belfast and Rockland.
Williams has been named senior vice president for commercial lines. He has been with Allen since 1990, previously serving as vice president and commercial lines producer. Before joining Allen Insurance and Financial in 1991, Williams worked as an account executive for Fred S. James.
Williams is known for working with some of Maine and New England’s largest and most complex insurance risks. He graduated from the University of Maine in Orono with degrees in business management and public administration.
Howland has been named senior vice president for human relations and operations. She joined the company in September 2022 as the new director of human resources.
She has held senior executive leadership positions at MBNA, Wayfarer Marine in Camden, Penobscot Bay YMCA, and Maine Sport in Rockport. Howland has a bachelor’s degree in international affairs and economics and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Maine.
