Northeast Credit Union has hired a former Army special operations support officer as its senior vice president and chief information officer.
Ken Lawrence brings over 20 years of experience to his new role at Northeast, where he will implement and lead transformations in technology. He will be working out of the credit union's corporate office in Portsmouth, N.H., but overseeing technology solutions that also serve branches and members in Maine.
Lawrence comes to Northeast from Disney Partners Federal Credit Union in Orlando, Fla., where he served as the senior vice president of technology and chief information security officer. He also spearheaded the delivery of IT infrastructure and applications for large-scale, globally distributed data centers.
Lawrence also created IT security teams and provided special operations support to the Army for 15 years as the director of corporate security, infrastructure and architecture.
"I'm thrilled to join Northeast Credit Union and develop ways to enhance the member experience as we embark on the mission to enrich and nourish the lives of others; I cannot think of a better way to start the year," Lawrence said.
Lawrence has a Bachelor of Science degree in information systems from the University of Maryland. He earned several certifications and completed additional training, including Microsoft certified solutions expert, IBM AS/400 basic operator, an advanced firewall course, and information systems security architecture professional.
"We're excited to leverage Ken's vast IT skill set and executive leadership experience as we focus on enhancing our technology that safely and securely delivers our services and products to our members," said Chris Parker, president, and CEO.
Northeast Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit organization that began at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1936. Northeast has grown to more than $2 billion in assets, over 147,000 members and 18 branches throughout New Hampshire and Maine.
