Steve Smith Trial Lawyers, based in Augusta, has hired two civil attorneys with decades of legal experience, Walter Foster IV and Blair Jones.
Foster joins Steve Smith Trial Lawyers with over 30 years of experience in military justice, aviation law and patent law.
Foster is a former U.S. Army colonel who had been part of its Judge Advocate General's Corps, or JAG Corps. He has a notable track record, including prosecuting Al-Qaeda operative Majid Kahn, the firm said.
He’s also been the primary legal advisor to commanding generals on numerous military assignments and has spearheaded internal investigations, ensured compliance and tackled congressional inquiries.
While serving as deputy general counsel for the Army Reserve Legal Command, he managed and mentored over 1,600 attorneys and paralegals.
His military service, including roles at the Pentagon, earned him the prestigious Joint Meritorious Service Medal.
Foster received his bachelor’s degree in political science and government from the University of Maine, a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from the University of South Florida, a master’s in military and strategic leadership from the U.S. Army War College and a juris doctorate from the University of Maine School of Law.
"I'm looking forward to bringing my experience in prosecution to the team and helping clients navigate their toughest legal challenges,” Foster told Mainebiz.
Recognized for his professional excellence with an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell and inclusion in “Best Lawyers in America” by Best Lawyers. He brings over 32 years of trial experience and has had a career in both state and federal courts across the United States.
"I’m excited to join a firm that shares my dedication to fighting for clients and getting real results,” said Jones.
Jones specializes in personal injury, product liability, trucking accidents and construction accidents. He has held trial counsel roles at Jones Law LLC, Rudman Winchell and the Law Offices of Joe Bornstein.
He received his bachelor’s degree in English and drama from Franklin & Marshall College and his juris doctorate from Lewis & Clark Law School.
