Avesta Housing President and CEO Rebecca Hatfield has been appointed to a three-year term on the New England Community Development Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.
She was promoted to president and CEO in 2022. Prior to working for Avesta, Hatfield worked for Citigroup in various roles within the commercial and corporate banks. She was a Mainebiz Woman to Watch in 2021.
In a press release, Hatfield said she looks forward to bringing her combined for-profit and nonprofit experience to the CDAC as it informs Boston Fed leaders and staff about New England community development activities, barriers to economic growth and ways the bank can support regional community development.
“The Fed is a vital and effective partner in promoting development and growth in communities throughout New England," she said. "I am excited to have the opportunity to provide on-the-ground insight as a part of the CDAC.”
The Boston Fed promotes sound growth and financial stability in New England and the nation by conducting economic research, participating in monetary policy making, supervising certain financial institutions, providing financial services and payments, playing a leadership role in the payments industry, and supporting economic well-being in communities.
“Her extensive experience in the affordable housing sector brings invaluable insights to our discussions. Rebecca's passion and commitment will undoubtedly enrich our efforts to address local economic challenges and opportunities in Maine and across New England," said Prabal Chakrabarti, executive vice president and community affairs officer for the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.
