Baker Newman Noyes, a Portland-based accounting and advisory firm, has promoted four employees at its headquarters office to key management roles.
Crystal Jones has been promoted to billing manager in the operations department, a role in which she oversee the billing functions of the firm. She joined BNN as a billing specialist in 2019. Jones received her associate degree in business administration from Southern Maine Community College and her bachelor’s degree in health science from the University of Southern Maine.
Gregory Knight of Gorham has been promoted to senior manager in the health care advisory practice. He has experience providing reimbursement services to hospitals, rural health clinics, nursing homes and home health agencies. Knight joined the firm in 2011 after earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Maine.
Nathan Somes has been promoted to manager in the tax practice. He specializes in providing support and tax planning to individuals and primarily closely held businesses. The Durham resident joined the firm in 2018 after completing tax internships in the Portland office. Somes received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA from the University of Southern Maine.
Benjamin Staples has been promoted to manager in the tax practice. Staples specializes in tax planning and compliance for individuals and closely held businesses. He joined the firm as a tax accountant in 2017. The Scarborough resident received his bachelor’s degree in accounting and his MBA from Husson University.

Baker Newman Noyes is ranked No. 2 among Maine’s largest accounting firms in the Mainebiz Book of Lists, to be published in the Oct. 2 print edition. The ranking was based on the firm's 2022 revenue of $33.1 million.
In addition to its Portland headquarters, the firm has two offices in Massachusetts and two in New Hampshire.
