Bangor area health clinic to expand

Penobscot Community Health Care, which has offices throughout the Bangor region, is opening a new health clinic in Brewer at the end of the month.

The 28,000-square-foot Brewer Medical Center in the former Wilson Square Shopping Plaza will include exam rooms, X-ray services, an on-site laboratory and a pharmacy, according to the Bangor Daily News. The center will also provide mental health care, physical therapy and occupational therapy. PCHC will close two other offices in Brewer and Bangor and relocate their 65 staff members to the new Brewer center, as well as hire another 16 employees.

The Rev. Bob Carlson, president of PCHC, said the new clinic will meet a growing demand for health care in the Bangor region east of the Penobscot River, where access to care is limited. The organization also has clinics in Old Town, Corinth, Bangor and Hampden.
