Bangor Savings Bank has expanded its leadership team with the hiring of Bob Williams as senior vice president and controller.
Williams will work at the bank’s Founder’s Place Campus in Bangor. He succeeds Sue Reid, who retired at the end of June after more than 20 years with the bank.
In his new role, Williams will oversee financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, budgeting, accounting operations, auditing and payroll to ensure financial accuracy and regulatory adherence.
“My experience has prepared me for this exciting role to support the bank’s finance team while advancing our mission to deliver on our 'You Matter More' promise to help our employees, customers and communities prosper," Williams told Mainebiz.
Williams brings a variety of accounting and industry experience, including his most recent role as chief financial officer of University Credit Union.
He also has served as manager of treasury services and real estate accounting at Cross Insurance, controller at Penquis Community Action Agency and senior tax specialist at BerryDunn.
“Bob’s financial expertise and experience will be invaluable to both the team and our clients as we continue to serve our community,” said Michael O’Connor, executive vice president, CFO and treasurer of Bangor Savings Bank.
The Bangor resident holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting and a master’s in accounting, both from the University of Maine.
Williams is an active volunteer in the community, donating time to Junior Achievement of Maine. He is also a past treasurer of the Bangor Humane Society's board of directors.
Bangor Savings, founded in 1852, has more than 60 branches in Maine and New Hampshire, as well as business and loan production offices in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
With nearly $7.5 billion in assets as of June 30, 2023, Bangor Savings topped the list of the largest Maine-based banks in the 2024 Mainebiz Book of Lists.
