Briggs Advertising in Bath has become part of Portland-based marketing agency CD&M Communications, principals of both firms have told Mainebiz.
Duncan Stout of CD&M said Briggs has been “merged into” his agency, but that no asset purchase was involved.
Walter Briggs, owner of Briggs Advertising for 33 years, and Director of Client Strategy Jenna Howard began work at CD&M on July 29, he said in an email.
According to Stout, the Briggs logo and brand will be retired, but no other changes are planned at this point. “We plan to offer the same level of strategic and creative expertise to our clients we’ve been known for for decades,” he said.
Briggs commented: “Our teams’ skill sets complement each other remarkably, and together we are stronger, more diverse, and we bring new eyes to each creative project and partnership.”
The combined firm employs 14, according to Stout, and now represents clients including Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, the Council for Disability Awareness, Oxford Casino & Hotel, Massachusetts Library System, Brown Goldsmiths, BerryDunn, Farm Fresh Dairies, and the Vermont Department of Liquor Control.
He would not disclose the combined billings of the two firms, but a recent Mainebiz list put CD&M’s annual billings at $6.8 million.
Discussion of the merger began in June, prompted by the decision of Walter and Wendy Briggs to sell the agency’s office building at 199 Water St. in Bath. The sale is expected to close this fall, but details aren’t yet available.
Congratulations to the two agencies that have now become one!
