Benchmark expansion reflects hot Portland market
Benchmark Residential & Investment Real Estate’s addition of nine people, as well as a second office in Portland, is another reflection of the hot demand in the real estate market.
Founder and designated broker Tom Landry started the firm 14 years ago as a small operation and now has 32 agents.
The surge in presence is a result of organic growth, he said.
“We’ve had people seek us out to join us,” he said. “Most of the people coming to us are agents with advanced licenses who have real-world, real-life experience in their communities, who know their neighborhoods, and are engaged locally.”
The firm also added a primary location in Portland’s West End at 72 Pine St., and increased capacity at its Old Port location at 305 Commercial St. The firm also has a location at 100 Congress St.
New hires are coming to the team with diverse backgrounds. That includes a former executive with Tom’s of Maine, a sommelier with 20 years in the hospitality industry, and a Chinese language teacher, translator, and interpreter.
“I believe the more life experience you have, the more your ability to empathize with clients,” said Landry.
Benchmark’s statewide sales are up 11.06%, with the market in greater Portland very hot, said Landry.
