"Bert and I," the celebrated Maine humor record albums created by the late Marshall Dodge and Bob Bryan when they were Yale University students in 1958, is launching a branding campaign thanks to a marketing agreement signed by the 80-year-old Bryan with a new business calling itself "Bert and I Company of Maine."
As reported by WCSH6-TV, owners of the business plan to create new "Bert and I" material for a possible movie, as well as for stage shows that will involve Maine humorist Tim Sample, who has performed with both Dodge and Bryan.
David Lyman, former owner of the Maine Film & Video Workshops in Rockport, told WCSH he's working with TV and movie industry professionals to develop the concept, script and funding for the movie. Lyman says he envisions a Maine version of successful TV series like "Northern Exposure" and "Doc Martin," which share with the "Bert and I" stories set in small, rural communities with a host of quirky characters.
