Bethel company fights trademark violation claim
Black Bear LLC, a Bethel-based maker of all-natural energy drinks and oral sprays, is contesting a claim that it’s violating a trademark of a California company.
The Bangor Daily News reported that WIT Beverage, which sells a line of craft beverages under the brand “Black Bear,” sent a cease-and-desist letter to Black Bear LLC in June. The California company said in the letter that it wants to cancel Black Bear LLC’s trademark because it began selling its product line of “Black Bear” beverages earlier.
Black Bear LLC is seeking a U.S. District Court judge to nullify the claim that it violated the California company’s trademark. It’s also seeking to recoup all legal costs.
