Blease to launch Brunswick Landing call center

Heather Blease, former head of the Brunswick-based EnvisioNet, has announced plans to open a call center at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station by the end of May.

The Bangor Daily News reported that Blease expects the call center, which will provide outsourced customer contact and technical support services, will employ 80 to 100 people.

The company, called SaviLinx, was formed to capture a growing interest in bringing services typically outsourced to foreign countries back to companies based in the U.S.

The company is set to open in the former Navy base headquarters, the paper reported, in Building 250.

While CEO of EnvisioNet, from 1995 to 2001, Blease and the company brought in clients including Dell and Microsoft and posted annual revenues of over $30 million. But by 2001, the company lost Microsoft's contract, closed its Brunswick headquarters and subsequently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the paper reported.

Steve Levesque, executive director of the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority, told the paper he attributed EnvisioNet's downfall to the loss of its Microsoft contract to overseas competition.
