Pharmers Market opened July 1 as Boothbay’s first medical marijuana caregiver store.
The Boothbay Register reported the store saw 50 to 75 patients coming to check it out on opening day.
“Everybody was amazed at the variety of products and methods of inhaling, ingesting or absorbing the medicine,” caregiver consultant and Medical Marijuana Caregivers of Maine Board Member Darrell Gudroe told the weekly newspaper.
Medications contain either CBD (Cannabidiol ) or THC ( Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol), the paper reported: CBD provides pain relief, but not a high s does THC.
Operators Jan Martin of Boothbay and Darrell Gudroe of Boothbay Harbor opened the location in a small shopping plaza. Martin is a state-licensed medical marijuana caregiver and Gudroe is a caregiver's consultant, the paper reported in April. The partners plan to grow and sell recreational marijuana as the next phase of their business.
