Commuters and other travelers in Biddeford, Saco and Old Orchard Beach now have more transportation options, as the area’s transit system launched new bus services last week.
The new Pulse system includes simplified bus schedules, additional stops and color-coded identities for each route, according to a news release from Biddeford Saco OOB Transit. The new system went into effect Aug. 1.
All local ShuttleBus routes now begin and end at the Saco Transportation Center, 138 Main St. on Saco Island, which is also a stop for Amtrak Downeaster passenger rail service.
In addition:
Zoom express bus service, which runs between Exit 32 of the Maine Turnpike and downtown Portland, is now known as the Purple Line, but its schedule is unchanged.
Biddeford Saco OOB Transit also operates seasonal trolley service in Old Orchard Beach and local bus service to the University of New England campus in Biddeford. Both services remain unchanged.
More information about the Pulse system can be found here.
