A new coalition of businesses formed to address rebuilding needs in Haiti is seeking support.
MaineLine, a coalition of businesses led by CD&M Communications and Mainebiz, is promoting a new model to bring focused, Maine-specific resources to Haiti's relief and rebuilding effort. The coalition will dispatch an international aid expert to Haiti to assess where the coalition's resources would be most effective, then return to Maine with a plan to connect those resources with the on-the-ground international aid agencies, Kim Stiver, spokeswoman for MaineLine, told Mainebiz. Stiver said, for instance, Woodard & Curran has offered its engineering services, and Reed & Reed its construction expertise, both of which could be applied to a specific Habitat for Humanity construction project in Haiti that MaineLine would follow and report on. MaineLine is looking for similar donations of expertise, as well as monetary pledges and in-kind gifts. The coalition already includes the aforementioned businesses as well as Preti Flaherty, Unum Provident, Kennebec Savings and Baker Newman Noyes.
