Business electricity rates drop

Electricity prices are set to decrease for medium and large business customers in Bangor-Hydro Electric and Central Maine Power Co.'s service areas.

The Maine Public Utilities Commission last week accepted bids for new standard offer energy supply prices for medium and large commercial and industrial customers, according to a press release. For medium and large commercial/ industrial customers in Bangor-Hydro Electric's territory, prices are 6.7 cents per kilowatt hour and 7.6 cents per kilowatt hour, respectively, a 2% reduction for both. Prices in CMP's area are 6.8 cents per kilowatt hour for medium business customers and 7 cents for large commercial customers, 5% and 7.5% decreases, respectively.

The prices are effective March 1, according to the release.
