Cannery sale officially complete

Bumble Bee Foods has confirmed the sale of its Down East cannery to a Massachusetts lobster company.
Bumble Bee on Wednesday issued a statement congratulating new owner Live Lobster Co., which had been negotiating since last summer to buy the former Stinson Seafood cannery in Gouldsboro, according to the Bangor Daily News. Last month, Live Lobster said the sale had been finalized, then days later a spokeswoman from Bumble Bee Foods said the closing was still pending. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
Chelsea-based Live Lobster Co. plans to buy and sell lobster and bait this spring, and hopes to eventually process lobster.
