Canney and Knight form PR co.
Political public relations veterans Crystal Canney and Felicia Knight have merged their respective firms to form a new Portland-based company in advance of the 2014 elections.
The companies announced in a press release that Canney Communications and Knight Vision International merged this month and began operating as The Knight Canney Group. Canney most recently worked as communications director for Independent U.S. Sen. Angus King and was spokeswoman for Democratic Gov. John Baldacci before starting her own firm. Knight spent five years as communications director for Republican U.S. Sen. Susan Collins and another five years in that role for the National Endowment for the Arts.
Last November, gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler announced that Canney would be leading the communications strategy for his 2014 bid.
