Carbonite unveils Lewiston location
Boston-based IT firm Carbonite, which recently announced its expansion to Lewiston, has revealed the specific location of its new center.
The company is leasing 20,000 square feet of space at 18 Mollison Way, a complex also home to Spare Time Recreation and the Fairgrounds Business Park, according to the Sun Journal. Spokesman Chris Kovach said the company has been doing work at the site for several weeks, including assembling furniture and adding windows for more natural light. Employees at the center will perform work previously done overseas.
Last week, the online data backup company announced plans to open its second U.S. service center in Lewiston, with plans to hire 150 workers by the end of the year and 250 by 2012. So far, Carbonite has hired more than 25 people, with average pay and benefits of $35,000. Training will begin June 13, and the center will be up and running by July.
