CEI's relocation to Brunswick moving forward
CEI, formerly known as Coastal Enterprises Inc., is moving forward on a plan to consolidate its Wiscasset and Portland offices into a new Brunswick headquarters.
That's after the nonprofit financial institution received unanimous approval from the Brunswick Planning Board on Wednesday to erect the two-story building, The Forecaster reported. It still has to purchase the site's property, which includes two former municipal buildings that were vacated over the past year.
John Egan, CEI's director of housing development, told the newspaper the company is ready to break ground on the 10-month construction project once the $300,000 property purchase is finalized with its seller, Brunswick Development Corp.
CEI is expected to move approximately 70 employees from its three current offices into its future headquarters by the spring of 2015.
