Cianbro nets $150M in bridge work

Cianbro Corp. has won two contracts worth a total of $150 million to build bridges in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

In a project worth $105 million, the Pittsfield-based company has been tapped to replace an aging railroad bridge in East Lyme, Conn., used by Amtrak, according to the Bangor Daily News. The company has also been picked by the Massachusetts Highway Department for a $45 million project to replace the Bates Bridge in Haverhill, Mass. Neither contract has been signed, but the company will start planning work on the projects immediately, CEO Peter Vigue told the paper.

Vigue said the projects would provide a steady workload for the company's employees, but did not specify if any new hires would result from the contracts. The company could announce another large project in the next few days or weeks, Vigue told the Daily News.
