Cianbro recognized for mature work force

Cianbro Corp. has been named by the AARP as one of the top 50 U.S. employers for workers over 50.
The construction company, based in Pittsfield, was ranked 24th among 50 companies on the list, according to the Bangor Daily News, and was the only Maine company recognized. Michael Bennett, a vice president at Cianbro, told the paper that 34% of Cianbro's work force is older than 50.
AARP received 140 applications for the award, according to the paper, and said most of the companies that make the list are in the health care field.
