County officials on Tuesday issued an eviction notice to Oxford Aviation, giving the company two days to vacate the building it leases at the Oxford County Regional Airport.
The Sun Journal reported the eviction notice was issued exactly 25 years after the company’s founding. The notice concludes a six-month legal battle that started with an eviction attempt in November that was stalled when owner James Horowitz transferred the company’s assets to himself for $1 and declared personal bankruptcy. That bankruptcy case was thrown out in federal court last month and was remanded to South Paris District Court. The parties had agreed to give Horowitz until April 1 to find a new tenant to take over a lease negotiated last year or face eviction from the 40,000-square-foot hangar.
County Administrator Scott Cole told the newspaper that a number of people have expressed interest in starting a business in the hangar but no firm offers were on the table as of Tuesday.
