Maine’s largest public company by revenue, Portland-based Covetrus Inc. (Nasdaq: CVET), has a new chief lawyer.
The animal-health technology and services company, which has undergone a series of senior leadership changes in the past year, on Tuesday named Jamey Seely as general counsel and corporate secretary.
She replaces Erin Powers Brennan, who joined Covetrus’ predecessor company, Vets First Choice, in April 2018 and continued with Covetrus after it was formed through a merger in February 2019.
Seely reports to Chief Administrative Officer Dustin Finer, who joined Covetrus in September 2019 as chief people officer. In December he was promoted to his current position, and in July Ditte Marstrand Wulf was promoted to global chief human resources officer.
To her role at Covetrus, Seely brings more than 20 years of legal and business experience within the energy, manufacturing and technology industries, including general counsel within two public companies.
Most recently, she served as president and general counsel of Integra, a developer of blockchain technology for the legal industry. Other previous posts include executive vice president and general counsel of Gates Industrial Corp. and executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at ION Geophysical Inc.
Seely is a graduate of Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law and received a bachelor's in arts from Baylor University. She holds a professional certificate in energy innovation and emerging technologies from Stanford University.
“We are thrilled to have [Seely] join Covetrus as general counsel and as a member of our board leadership team,” Finer said in a news release. “The company will benefit from Jamey’s combination of legal and business expertise, and we look forward to her support in driving the company’s business strategy, development and continued growth.”
Commenting on Brennan's departure, Covetrus CEO Ben Wolin said, “Erin was instrumental in the formation of Covetrus, and in building the strong legal team we have in place today. We are grateful for her service and wish her well.”
Wolin was named acting CEO in October 2019, following the resignation of Benjamin Shaw, and later was named to the permanent position.

It is headquartered in Portland, with more than 5,500 employees serving over 100,000 customers around the world.
