Cross Insurance acquires another Mass. insurance agency

Cross Insurance, a subsidiary of Bangor-based Cross Financial Corp. and one of the largest independent insurance providers in New England, has acquired its 16th Massachusetts insurance agency.
Founded in 1903, Appleby & Wyman Insurance Agency has offices in Beverly and Westford and is licensed in 38 states, including all New England states as well as New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, California and Florida. Appleby & Wyman serves more than 10,000 personal and business clients.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Appleby & Wyman becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cross Financial Corp., and will continue to operate under the same name.
“With the addition of Appleby & Wyman's two locations, Cross Insurance greatly bolsters its presence in the Massachusetts marketplace,” said Jonathan Cross, chief operating officer of Cross Insurance, noting that over the past 60 years, Cross Insurance has acquired more than 120 insurance agencies.
