The Cross Insurance Center in Bangor recently reached its 1,000th event since opening in the fall of 2013.
Spectra, managers of Cross Insurance Center, and the City of Bangor expect the four-year-old venue to reach its one-millionth patron during the spring.
“The Cross Insurance Center continues to bring high-quality events to Bangor with even more to come,” Bangor Mayor Benjamin Sprague said in a news release. “The building has been great economic development success story for the City of Bangor and the entire region."
Since its grand opening on Sept. 10, 2013, the entertainment, sporting complex and convention center has hosted a wide variety of events — including legendary musicians such as Bob Seger, Motley Crue, Ringo Starr and most recently, Elton John. Other entertainment events include Cirque du Soleil and Professional Bull Riders.
With a focus on local and statewide business, Cross Insurance Center has hosted a number of events designed to enhance community engagement. The Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce Dinner is held annually with attendance reaching over 1,200. The event is regarded as being one of the largest plated dinners served in the state each year.
In November the two-day Maine Harvest Festival hosted by the city gives Maine business owners the chance to promote and sell their products to over 7,000 people. Other event highlights include the Bangor YMCA Gala, Bangor Home Show, Bangor on Tap, and the Cross Insurance Center Gala.
The Cross Insurance Center also has hosted numerous political conventions and rallies, including the Maine State Republican Convention in April 2016, two rallies for President Donald Trump during his campaign and a rally held by U.S. Sen Bernie Sanders in support of the Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
As the Cross Insurance Center builds to its one-millionth patron, it will kick off 2018 with a number of entertainment events including Dirty Dancing on Jan. 2, Dancing with the Stars, Chris Young with Kane Brown and LANCO, Jeff Dunham and Jim Gaffigan.
