Digital gifting co. CashStar names new leader
The Portland-based digital gift card company CashStar has named Ben Kaplan its next president and CEO, following the resignation of founding CEO David Stone. Since Stone’s resignation in May, the company’s board chairman Steven Boal, who is also the CEO of the Mountain View, Calif.-based Coupons.com, served as interim CEO.
The company said in a press release Monday that Kaplan joined the company as chief operating officer in August and was appointed to the board of directors. Before coming to CashStar, he was chief operating officer at Cartera Commerce, which provides card-based marketing services for merchants, banks and loyalty programs.
Kaplan said in a statement that he’s confident the company will continue to grow and “change the way the world thinks about digital gifting.”
