A private practice in Freeport that offers medical marijuana certification and holistic services has added farm shares as another way to improve the wellness of its patients.
The Forecaster reported Be Well My Friend, located on South Freeport Road, is selling weekly produce shares for Packard Farm through the end of the month. The community supported agriculture program, which lasts for 15 weeks from late June to mid October, is part of the private practice’s aspirations to network with meat and dairy farmers, open a gym and build a teaching kitchen for healthy cooking demonstrations.
Besides offering medical marijuana certification and farm shares, the practice provides a range of other services, including traditional medical care, massage therapy and acupuncture. The two doctors running the firm also have a medical lending library and a registered nurse who provides nutrition and diabetes consulting.
"It's about expanding your thought process to include things that other people wouldn't consider part of therapy," Dr. Michael Dufresne, one of the practice’s doctors, told The Forecaster. "These are all just different tools and ways that people might use to try to improve their health and well-being. They're not that far out."
