Downtown Ellsworth Association hires new director

The Downtown Ellsworth Association has hired Gouldsboro native and Ellsworth business owner Cara Romano as the part-time executive director of the association.

In her role, Romano will oversee the coordination of volunteer groups working on beautification programs for the city’s downtown, according to the Ellsworth American.

She owns the contemporary craft shop (KoT) on the town’s Main Street and served as the board president of the Maine Crafts Association for five-and-one-half years.

As part of her role, Romano will spearhead revitalization and branding efforts for the town to focus on experience-driven options for visitors and potential customers in downtown Ellsworth, the American reported.

Funding for the new position came from three equal investors: the city, Camden National Bank and Eaton Peabody, with each contributing $5,000 to fund the first year of the executive director post.
