East Coast Cannabis will open a flagship store on Eliot’s "Green Mile," with plans to add a dispensary later this year.
The new flagship store will replace an existing store in Eliot.
The store, located at 290 Harold L. Dow Highway, will feature a storefront, as well as a cultivation center and a kitchen and manufacturing areas that will be visible to customers while they're shopping.
Winter Holben, a Kittery architecture firm, designed the site.
East Coast Cannabis plans to hold its grand opening ceremony on Jan. 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be exclusive weekend deals on premium products, along with raffles for prizes such as an electric bike, a boxing glove signed by Mike Tyson and a harmonica signed by Jim Belushi.
East Coast Cannabis, which opened its original Eliot location in June 2021, was founded by Dana Brearley and James Folan and Ryan Ward. The company has other locations in Waterville and Lebanon.
Eliot, which is on the border with New Hampshire, earned its reputation as the "Green Mile" thanks to several retail and medical marijuana dispensaries. The location is key: Eliot sits across the Piscataqua River from New Hampshire, where recreational-use marijuana is illegal. The Green Mile is a 10-minute drive from downtown Portsmouth, N.H.
The Green Mile includes OG Cannabis, Cannabis Cured Recreational Weed Dispensary Eliot, East Coast Cannabis-Eliot and Sweet Dirt.
