The Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce will host a program designed to introduce nonprofits and community groups to chamber members.
A speed dating format will be used to give chamber members a quick glimpse at the mission of the individual nonprofits.
"For many years, I have been asked by nonprofits how to get in front of potential donors, volunteers, etc.," said Gretchen Wilson, chamber director. "Often, when they do have an audience, they give way too much information and details. Some have even done a PowerPoint at what is essentially a social event."
Nonprofits, community clubs and organizations are welcome to register for a table. Those participating will give a brief introduction on what they do and what the organization's needs might be.
Nonprofits and community groups are invited to have representatives at the event who can provide information on their organization and mission, as well as answer questions in a three-minute meet and greet format. Guests will rotate through the tables.
"The speed dating format means you have a small amount of time to engage people with your message and hopefully have a conversation," said Wilson. "It also means you can pass along many messages to a larger group of people. By making it fun, I think we may successfully connect people. Food, drink, and some prizes and networking will help as well."
The event will take place on Oct. 13, from 5:05 to 7 p.m., at the newly renovated Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, at 119 Bucksport Road in Ellsworth.
The Ellsworth Chamber event will include snacks, beverages and drawings. Please RSVP by Oct. 11. For more information, kburpee@ellsworthchamber.org or 207-667-5584
