EPA to review Saco Superfund site
The Environmental Protection Agency is scheduled to review the cleanup effort at the former Saco Tannery, one of 27 New England Superfund sites the federal agency will review this year.
The Associated Press reported the EPA conducts reviews of cleanup work every five years to identify any deficiencies in cleanup work. The EPA reported in 2008 that the strategies to clean up the site were functioning properly and that it would continue to monitor groundwater and sediment for any contaminants.
