After over 50 years at the foot of Mousam Lake in the York County town of Shapleigh, Exit Key Real Estate, owned by Elias and Jane Thomas, is relocating from 20 Emery Mills Road to 920 Shapleigh Corner Road.
A grand opening is scheduled for Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Howling Hunger Food truck will serve food and Seacoast Oldies will broadcast live from the event. The public is invited.
"We are honored to have had so many years serving our community and look forward to making even more of a difference in it at our new location,” said Elias Thomas. “We hope everyone comes and celebrates this exciting new chapter.”
The Shapleigh business dates back to before the Exit [Realty] name. Jane’s father, Richard Duffy Leach, began to sell properties in the Sanford area in the 1930s, according to her company bio. He had a small office in the family home, “and was well known for years to hold office hours, between noon and 1 p.m., in front of the Sanford Trust Co. building.”
She continued, “His business prospered and in 1970, Duffy, my sister Joan and I decided to open a real estate office in what had been known for years as the Mousam Lake Dinette. I can still remember when we opened the office we had one lakefront listing 'for sale' and one listing 'for rent.' It was the same property and one which my father owned! Times!”
The Exit office in Shapleigh is a franchise of Boston-based Exit Realty New England, which is itself is part of Exit Realty Corp. International, a wellreal estate franchise brand with independently owned and operated brokerage locations across the U.S. and Canada.
“Elias and Jane have been long standing, and positive contributors to both the Shapleigh community and to our efforts at Exit Realty,” said Michael Wohl, regional owner of Exit Realty New England. “We are proud to have them in our community, and I look forward to celebrating their fantastic new office with them at the end of the month”
Congratulations to Elias and Jane Thomas!
