FairPoint Communications has appointed an executive to address operational issues in northern New England, just as Vermont officials question whether they should allow the company to continue operating in the state.
David Hauser, CEO of the North Carolina-based company, has appointed Vicky Weatherwax vice president of business solutions and tasked her with "developing a comprehensive plan of action...to address the systems integration problems," according to a press release from the company. Executive Vice President Jeff Allen, a Vermont native, has been tapped to oversee all northern New England operations.
At the same time, the Vermont Department of Public Service filed a petition with its public service board, asking it to investigate whether FairPoint should be allowed to continue operating in the state if it doesn't fix customer service and operational problems, according to the Rutland Herald. The consumer advocacy department wants the board to determine if FairPoint should keep its certificate of public good or its license to conduct business as a regulated utility.
