FairPoint to address Vt. rejection

FairPoint is looking for ways to address Vermont regulators' rejection of its bankruptcy reorganization plan, which could include asking a federal court to overturn the Vermont Public Service Board's decision.

Michael Smith, president of FairPoint Communication's Vermont operations, told the Associated Press the company may ask the bankruptcy court to overrule the state's decision, or it could present amended information to the board to address its concerns. Vermont regulators at the end of June rejected the company's reorganization plan, opposing its plan to push back its deadline for expanding broadband service and denying the company's request to scrap penalty fees for service problems. Maine and New Hampshire regulators have approved the plan.

Smith said the company will decide in the next few weeks which tack to take, according to the AP.
