Hampden-based Maine Trailer Inc. has received a Finance Authority of Maine-backed loan of $2.25 million to help create and retain 26 jobs.
FAME's board of directors Friday approved 80% commercial loan insurance on the BDC Capital Corp. loan to help it restructure its capital, according to a press release. The company will use the loan to pay off and refinance debt, and for capital expenditures. The company sells, leases and services trailers, and was acquired in 2001 by an investment group. It serves central and northern Maine, and recently opened an office in Auburn: "Thanks to FAME's assistance, Maine Trailer will be able to strengthen its financial position, maintain good-paying jobs in the state and hopefully grow," Maine Trailer President William Peters said in the release.
FAME's board also approved low-cost financing for Gulf of Maine Properties and Gulf of Maine Research Institute to help refinance a portion of construction costs at its Portland facility.
