Feds give $1M to three Maine museums

The Portland Museum of Art and two other Maine museums have received a total of nearly $1 million in funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The Portland Press Herald reported that PMA will use its share of $400,000 to support its effort to reinstall its collection of fine and decorative art throughout the museum.

The Monhegan Museum and Maine Historical Society each received $250,000 on the condition that they would each match the funds with $50,000 of their own. Both museums plan to use the funds to improve the storage and care of their art collections.
