Feds give Maine $2.5M to aid displaced workers

The Kennebec Valley Community College is receiving nearly $2.5 million in federal funds to support job training programs for displaced workers.

U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King on Monday announced that the Department of Labor funding will support KVCC’s effort to train displaced workers in Kennebec, Knox and Somerset counties for jobs in the construction, health care and social assistance industries.

“This grant represents an important investment in the development of Maine’s workforce,” Collins and King said in a joint statement. “The funding will bolster Kennebec Valley Community College’s effort to provide displaced workers in Kennebec, Knox and Somerset counties with the skills they need to find a new job.”
